epa02796246 A picture made available 26 June 2011 shows a wild macaque with an amputated hand in Hong Kong’s Kam Shan Country Park, Hong Kong, 25 June 2011. It is illegal under Hong Kong law to feed the wild monkeys in the country park, yet according to officials from the government’s Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD), the practice is widespread. The monkey limb amputations are caused by car electric windows being retracted in panic by visitors in cars to the country park. The gruesome injuries are sustained as the macaques extend their hands through car windows to grab food, resulting in frightened humans and severed primate limbs. EPA/ALEX HOFFORD
